Fashion Eccentrics

Oh man, it's been awhile huh?! I feel terrible for not posting for so long, who knew blogger guilt could be so strong? Anyway it's taken longer than I expected but I'm finally home from University! That's it, finito! I can no longer all myself a student (boo!) but I am happy and super excited to begin the long slog that is the path to my dream career. Inbetween all the final assessment work and packing up to move home madness I still managed to keep writing for Running In Heels, and my latest article has gone up!

Fashion today thrives on theatricality and pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable (raw meat dress anyone?) so my article about fashion's greatest eccentrics is more than apt. Read about histories greatest influences and the eccentrics making their mark today to claim their stake in fashion's history books.

Fantastic drapey yet feminine look

After seeing this pic and Ashley Olsen at the Costume Institute Gala, I really want a peasant blouse with over the shoulder sleeves! So sexy!

Despite it being too warm to wear anything like this, I love the ruffled jacket as the final finishing layer

These shoes make the outfit, it goes to show how the right accessories can change everything!

The perfect denim-on-denim look

A shot of rasberry red goes a long way!

I'd love to know where she got this unusual dress from? Self made or Westwood methinks?

Currently obsessed with bottle green velvet so this is a win in my books!

I love the sassiness of this outfit; cheeky yet subtle

I Still Have My Feet On The Ground, I Just Wear Better Shoes

What do you think of my new heels? They're for my honeymoon! I needed a new pair to prance around the resort in and the second my eyes fell on these babies I knew they were perfect. I think they're a mix of pretty Parisian meets Carrie Bradshaw. LOVE!

Kate's Picks

Kate Bosworth recently acted as guest editor for WhoWhatWear, and her fantastic picks just make me love this chick more! MUST get my hands on those rad Vanessa Bruno trainers! Anyone know where I can get some?

White Sand & Long Limbs

Aside from the usual culprits (Lara Stone, Kate Moss, Malgosia Bela) Daria Werbowy is one of my favourite models. She's incredibly sexy but can switch to cool tomboy style too, and can go from glamourous haute couture to urban streetstyle with the flick of a hip! A versatile industry veteran, Daria's unbelieveable beauty and modelling skills are on full display in the May 2011 issue of ELLE Spain, as the whole magazine's dedicated to her! This editorial is gloriously summery and makes me crave the water and some strong sunshine! Don't forget to click on them for HQ!

The beauty section of ELLE Spain has been taken over by Daria too!

And just for funsies, here's some behind the scenes goodness:

Black Velvet

Well look at me and all my posts consisting of my own crappy photographs! I'm on a roll! I really wish my camera was better because it hasn't done justice to how beautiful my most recent vintage find is; a vintage Jaeger matte black velvet cropped blazer with matching waistcoat! It's in incredible condition, and from the snug fit and style, and the yellowed old label, I'm pretty sure its from about the 1960's/70's. The blazer is collarless, it has rounded and slightly flared sleeves, and a fine line of stitching around the hems (which you can just make out in the pics), and the waistcoat is the same black velvet with a silky black satin back. I can imagine Kate Moss wearing this (she loves a good blazer/waistcoat combo) and I'm going to style it as she would with a white shirt, skinny jeans and a good pair of plain black flats.

Homeward Bound

Just a quick post on this hurried friday of mine. You all might think this is the lamest thing but I have these amazing memories from when I was young of me and my family driving 7 hours down from Northumberland to my grandma's in London, and me and my 2 sisters would be squashed up together in the back seat of the car, and we'd listen to Simon & Garfunkel over and over. This song is ironic as I am travelling home this weekend and will be leaving my term-time home in Southampton in a few weeks.  I firmly believe every household should have abit of S & G stashed away!

And just for a TGIF bonus:

Outfit Post x The Beginning

So here's a picture of what I wore yesterday. I wanted to wear something light and breezy with bursts of colour and texture to lift my mood as it was a big day: the hand-in of my 3rd year Final Major Project Theory Dissertation i.e the big scary 10,000 word basterd! So that's finally over with now and I can begin the next project - finishing my styling unit, which starts tonight with a re-shoot in studio. I am definately going to miss being this creative all the time but if plans go ahead then hopefully I can keep doing this kinda thing forever!

Wearing: H&M Conscious Collection white linen suit, Primark white vest, Ray-Ban Wayfarers, vintage multicoloured tie-dye silk scarf, Topman purple silk tassled scarf, Principles bag (about 4 years old!) & Topshop cheetah print suede slippers

MET Costume Institute Gala 2011

Photos from the "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" Costume Institute Gala  are still coming in but I had to post the person who in my opinion was the best dressed of the night: Ashley Olsen! Ashley wore a Vintage Christian Dior Haute Couture dress, Christian Louboutin heels, a Judith Leiber bag and Van Cleef & Arpels jewellery. Now I know I'm biased as I'm a big MKA fan but she looks so overwhelmingly chic! I also finally read the amazing interview they did in last months American Vogue and I was so impressed at how mature they seem and what an amazing business woman Ashley is. I'll just let the pictures do the talking...

His Name Was Raoul

His name was Raoul, her name was Arizona, and together they made a perfect Spring 2011 lookbook! I love this Raoul collection and these images for many reasons, firstly because Arizona looks gorgeous and I can't get over how much I STILL love her hair, and secondly because it looks like the wardrobe of a 1960's Parsian girl! Tres chic! Click on the source to see more!

Star In The Making

Check out these Jeffrey Campbell platform monsters, I think they've got the potential to become a real hit on the blogsphere. Maybe someone like Christeric could wear them well, its gotta be someone who can handle such epicly proportioned heels!
